Periodicals A to Z for finding journal articles

August 22, 2006 by mdynorwich

Students are often in the situation where they are looking for a particular journal article and don’t know which database it’s in. You may have gotten a recommendation from a professor or you found the article in a database search but it didn’t offer the full-text. In order to find the article, you will need to use Periodicals A to Z, which is included in the list of databases for your program. With Periodicals A to Z, you will need to search for the journal title (not the article) and will then get a list of databases where it can be found. For more information about searching Periodicals A to Z, please visit this page in the OGP Research Guide.

APA and MLA Citation Help

If you’re having trouble figuring out how to do APA or MLA citations, the Citation Machine (http://citationmachine.net/) is something you should check out. The Citation Machine allows you to enter information about your resource (including type of resource and citation info) and then it formats the citation for you. This tool could be very useful when you’re working on your papers, but it is no substitute for having the actual citation manual for the citation style required in your program. That is one book that is well worth purchasing if you don’t have it already.
